      12. The objective of this Recommendation is to encourage the Member States to ensure that the necessary steps are taken in order to effectively interconnect the officially appointed mechanisms for the central storage of regulated information, as referred to in Article 21(2) of Directive 2004/109/EC (hereinafter ‘the storage mechanisms’), in a single electronic network within the Community, as referred to in point (b) of second subparagraph of Article 22(1) of that Directive (hereinafter ‘the electronic network’).
