1. If Tuesday is a public holiday, the period shall begin at 13.00 (Brussels time) on the following working day.

6. By way of derogation from Article 5(1) of Council Regulation (EEC, Euratom) No 1182/71, where the latest date for the submission of an aid application or any supporting documents, contracts or declarations under this Title, or the latest date for amendments to the single application, is a public holiday, a Saturday or a Sunday, it shall be deemed to fall on the first following working day.
7. However, the period for lodging the first applications referred to in Regulations (EC) Nos 2375/2002, 2305/2003 and 969/2006 falls on a public holiday in 2007; it should therefore be laid down that the first applications may be lodged by operators only from the first working day of 2007, and that this first period for lodging applications closes no later than Monday 8 January 2007. It should also be specified that import licence applications for this first period should be sent to the Commission no later than Monday 8 January 2007.
8. However, experience shows that to ensure the best efficiency of Community surveillance as set out in Article 308d of Regulation (EEC) No 2454/93, in the interest of sound management of import tariff quotas, provision should be made for import licences not to be valid after the last day of the import tariff quota period, even if that day is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, by way of derogation from Article 3(4) of Council Regulation (EEC, Euratom) No 1182/71 of 3 June 1971 determining the rules applicable to periods, dates and time limits [6].
9. However, the period for lodging the first applications referred to in Regulations (EC) Nos 2058/96 and 955/2005 falls on a public holiday in 2007; it should therefore be laid down that the first applications may be lodged by operators only from the first working day of 2007, and that this first period for lodging applications closes no later than Monday 8 January 2007. It should also be specified that import licence applications for this first period should be sent to the Commission no later than Monday 8 January 2007.
