- Such further stratification shall be done respecting the two following principles:
- The stratification criteria are linked to MFI interest rate statistics, i.e. there is a relationship between the stratification criteria and the interest rates and amounts that are to be estimated from the sample.
- In addition, capital values do not exclude the use of ‘physical’ stratification criteria; they may be combined.
- As prevalence of Campylobacter spp. has been shown to vary significantly depending on the season, this merits stratification.
- If it is complete and includes appropriate information, it may permit effective sample design with, for example, stratification by size, type of activity and location.
- Member States can cover other sectors and use additional categories for the stratification (e.g. O, P, and Q) on an optional basis,
- If any stratification (e.g. on herd size or region) was in operation, then the new holding should be selected from the same stratum.
- The stratification shall include the size and type of the agricultural holding to ensure that agricultural holdings of different sizes and types are adequately represented;
- Any stratification that is considered should be described in the report that a Member State submits to the Commission in accordance with paragraph 5(1).
