  1. Section C Trace of vertical median plane of seat
  2. Section A-A of the vehicle in the vertical plane of the centre-line of the inboard seats.
  3. ‘body section’ means a section containing at least two identical vertical pillars on each side representative of a part or parts of the structure of the vehicle;
  4. The axis of the pyramid shall be vertical and its smaller section shall contact the aperture area of the escape hatch.
  5. ‘Frontal protection system leading edge height’ for any vertical longitudinal section of the frontal protection system means the vertical distance between the ground reference level and the frontal protection system leading edge reference line at that section, with the vehicle positioned in its normal ride attitude;
  6. The geometry of the bodywork section, the axis of rotation and the position of the centre of gravity in the vertical and lateral directions shall be representative of the complete vehicle.
  7. The articulated section that interconnects rigid portions of the vehicle shall be so designed and constructed as to allow at least one rotary movement about at least one horizontal axis, and at least one vertical axis.
  8. In ships fitted with individually identifiable fire detectors, a section may serve spaces on both sides of the ship and on several decks but may not be situated in more than one main vertical zone.
  9. The appropriate proportion of the energy prescribed in Sub-appendix 1 to this appendix shall be applied to the bodywork section by the pendulum such that at the moment of impact the direction of motion of the pendulum makes an angle of 25 degrees (+ 0o, - 5o) to the central longitudinal vertical plane of the bodywork section.
  10. The Commission's market investigation confirmed that the proposal leads to numerous horizontal and vertical overlaps in the fields of power generation (see Section A), power transmission and distribution (B), rail transport technology (C), frequency inverters (D), metallurgical and electrical plant building (E), low-voltage switchgear (F), building technology (G), infrastructure and ropeways (H) and other IT services (I).
  11. .9 If there is no fire detection system capable of remotely and individually identifying each detector, a section of detectors shall not serve spaces on both sides of the ship nor on more than one deck and neither shall it be situated in more than one main vertical zone except that the Administration of the flag State, if it is satisfied that the protection of the ship against fire will not thereby be reduced, may permit such a section of detectors to serve both sides of the ship and more than one deck. In ships fitted with individually identifiable fire detectors, a section may serve spaces on both sides of the ship and on several decks but may not be situated in more than one main vertical zone.
  12. The distance between the uppermost and the lowermost points of the spray suppression system (mudguard and outer valance) measured in any cross section perpendicular to the mudguard (see figures 1b and 2 in Annex V) must extend to not less than 45 mm at all points behind a vertical line passing through the centre of the wheel or the first wheel in the case of multiple axles.
  13. .9 If there is no fire detection system capable of remotely and individually identifying each detector, a section of detectors shall not serve spaces on both sides of the ship nor on more than one deck and neither shall it be situated in more than one main vertical zone except that the Administration of the flag State, if it is satisfied that the protection of the ship against fire will not thereby be reduced, may permit such a section of detectors to serve both sides of the ship and more than one deck.
  14. This free space shall permit the free passage of a vertical panel whose form and dimensions are the same as the cylindrical form (paragraph 7.7.5.1.), central section and a thickness of no more than 20 mm. This panel shall be moved, from the cylindrical form tangential position, until its external side is in contact with the dual panel interior side, touching the plane or planes defined by the step upper edges, in the probable direction of motion of a person using the entrance (see Annex 4, Figure 2).
