      10. The authorities of the People’s Republic of China and Lao People’s Democratic Republic will be notified of the initiation of the investigation and provided with a copy of the request.
      11. In order to obtain the information it deems necessary for its investigation, the Commission will send questionnaires to the exporters/producers and to the associations of exporters/producers in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, to the exporters/producers and to the associations of exporters/producers in the People’s Republic of China, to the importers and to the associations of importers in the Community which cooperated in the investigation that lead to the existing measures or which are listed in the request and to the authorities of the People’s Republic of China and Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
      12. The Cooperation Agreements between the European Community and Nepal, between the European Community and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and between the European Community and Yemen entered into force on 1 June 1996, 1 December 1997 and on 1 July 1998 respectively. The Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and South Korea was signed on 28 October 1996.
      13. As a consequence of the application of the future new rules of origin, the Lao products which are currently eligible for preferential tariff treatment only through application of the derogation should in future be able to qualify through application of the new rules of origin.
      14. The provisions of Regulation (EC) No 1613/2000, in particular the existence of quantitative limits, which apply on an annual basis, reflecting the Community market's capacity to absorb the Lao products, Laos's export capacity and actual recorded trade flows, were designed to prevent injury to the corresponding branches of Community industry.
